Wow, she ran 2:40 in October 2018

If this meets the qualifications for a record then it is the Age 17 World Record.
Currently that record is 2:33:24 by Alisa Vainio of Finland run in 2015.
Wolfgram already holds the Age 15 WR of 2:40:03 which she ran in the Twin Cities Marathon in 2018.
Odd that the article didn't say what or where the race was. From the far-from-crowded picture, it looks like it might have been something set up just for her to try to get the record. Regardless, congrats to her. Would this make her around the 15th or 20th best U.S. woman marathoner?
I think she's 76th best US woman marathoner as they had the US Championships in February in Atlanta.. now time-wise, she would probably be in the Top 30... but she'll need to learn how to race (which is a skill in itself) to be one of the best US woman marathoners.https://track.rtrt.me/e/ATLANTA-TRIALS-2020#/leaderboard/top-women-marathon/FINISH

Already better than the Olympian Alexi Pappas (2:34:26). Pretty insane. Hope her body holds up running all of these 'thons at a young age.
Wow that's amazing! I remember hearing that she wanted to break that record back when she ran at the trials, so for her to get it after all is awesome for her. I hope she stays healthy and continues to love the sport.
she ran well
I'm so happy this thread is not negative. Great job and well-deserved congratulations. There was a young lady several years ago who was crucified on this very Board for doing the same thing, specifically:
Running without school affiliation prior to college graduation, and
Running in events longer than 5k prior to high school graduation.
In the court of public opinion (just in the US it seems) both of these were considered absolutely, unequivocally wrong as recently as 5 years ago. Maybe 2 years ago. It's great to see somebody who is free to compete at her best events, as opposed to parental, peer, and public pressure putting the kibosh on her dreams. I was not at this level, but if my arm was twisted hard enough starting at 14 and I didn't feel I really had any option other than mid-D for the school team, I would have quit running. Instead, my dad encountered marathons and literally drove me just like other dads did to baseball. My high school friends did the same; a few of them would be inthe car with us.
Without this kind of support, pursuing a sport can be difficult early in life. Prohibitively difficult perhaps. Look how long it's been since the US has had a decent teenage road scene. It's so great that in the 40 years since I was that age that the world seems to have come full circle and actual long-distance running is considered acceptable once again for teenagers. Keep it up!
A lot of races aren’t advertising venues these days, although after the fact it doesn’t matter as much (since it’s usually kept secret to avoid crowds).
Based on the photo being credited to CIM and what it looks like, my guess would be that it was run on the American River Parkway (the same trail system that was used for the Hoka/Walmsley record attempt), probably on a multi-loop course (there are a few pre-existing certified routes/loops of various distances available in that area, although they may have just certified a new one).
Did anyone find out where this was run? If it was run in Reno, that's at 4500 feet and would be even more impressive. What's the conversion for that?

Checked the pacers Strava, it was in Sacramento.
I wonder who coaches her and how’s she’s been training over the last 5-7 years. I prefer to see this type of story than kids being overraced at 800m to 10K throughout HS and college. Her aerobic engine can set her up to run fast on the track, assuming she hasn’t already done a lot of sharpening work.

Very impressive, but
the under 18 record 2:25.15 Sun Weiwei - China (2002)
Under 20 is 2:20 and change.

Apparently there are different lists. I was looking at this one:
http://age-records.125mb.com/Here is another one that includes some amazing times from China but oddly not the one you listed. The age 14 (2:33:08), 15(2:29:41) and 16( 2:31:51) records were set by three different girls all in the same running of the Beijing marathon.
https://arrs.run/SA_Mara.htmThe usual concerns apply to her as they do to all 17 year old phenoms. In high school she had a stress fracture (sophomore year) and a broken tibia (junior year).
Great to see another MN runner seeing success. I thought her marathon before the state meet a few years back was questionable, but clearly she is seeing success at the thon.
I believe the situation you're referring to is actually the same kid? Didn't she run Twin Cities two years ago?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
