I think in a deeper race (NCAA Championship) the Arkansas women have problems.

I agree.
Was it a surprise that Ole Miss would go 1-2-3 and then get destroyed in the men's team battle?
How is Gilbert Bout not even in the top 5 for Arkansas?
Because they just went and got fresh blood with 75% of their team being transfers. They might not even crack the top 5 with their returning 2019 team.

Yes. Back to reality for Lance Harter's team. This is the kind of performance we are used to seeing from his teams during championship season. Always out of gas in the big meets. Not sure how they held things together last year.

Frustrated Alumni or just another armchair coach?
Winning a league championship is always an expectation for the top teams in any conference and something to hang your hat on as an athlete/team. Nobody cares about 2nd, even the team that gets 2nd.
"Not sure...". Yeah, more like you have no clue.
However, not many can realistically expect podium accolades at NCAA year to year.

Not sure why the girls are ranked #1???? NC State would beat them, and they are not even running at full strength yet. Just wait until March when they have Nevada, Starliper, and Tuohy healthy. Lot of depth at NC State
and tho they have not raced, I would think Stanford would be far better the Arkansas as well - especially with several very low sticks
How is it that there are only 2 men's teams in the conference? The rest of the conference looks like a bunch of D3 teams.

Disagree, in a deeper race Arkansas’ depth at the 5 spot becomes key, obviously the problem with this years team is it lacks a title contender like Werner or Izzo but meets are won in the 5 spot and you have Ewert or Gear at your five spot your doing pretty good. The bigger and deeper the meet the more important the 5 spot becomes.
Not saying there aren’t necessarily better teams out there but this version of Arkansas would do well in a bigger fields relatively speaking. Put it this way, NC State would not have won SEC yesterday but maybe they beat Arkansas in dual meet.

UT, Georgia and Kentucky have matched up well to ACC competition all year.

Although I’m cheering for the Wolfpack, I do believe Stanford is the #1 team in the country and the team to beat at Nationals in March! Saying that, the Wolfpack is the clear #2 based on last year and 6 of 7 last year returning! Anyone who thinks Arkansas is a title contender this year is a little delusional. NC State and Stanford would destroy them, plus about 6 other teams. Arkansas is a top 10 team, but not a top 5 team.
And talking about #5 runners, this is the packs strength! That is the way NC State might beat Stanford at Nationals, the strength of their pack! They could place 5 runners ?♀️ n the top 25 and possibly 4 in the top 15. Steelman, Dom, Chmiel, Starliper are all top 15 runners. And they have so much depth that they have at least 5 other runners that could all go top 25!
And that was a ridiculous statement that NC State would not have won the SEC! The ACC is a better conference. Arkansas might have been third in the ACC race.
Georgia was 3rd. They barely beat Georgia Tech this year who was 12th in the ACC. What a joke. The ACC has about 4 real D1 teams and Georgia can barely beat the 12th one who couldn't beat a good D3 team. Wartburg or North Central could easily finish 3rd in the SEC. How many SEC teams do you see in the rankings?
Florida State had 225 points at the ACC meet. This is the last time they ran against some of the better SEC schools. What a joke. The SEC has 2 teams and a bunch of average D3 teams.
1 Arkansas 29
2 Ole Miss 50
3 Florida State 97
4 Tennessee 110
5 Georgia Tech 138
6 Florida 196
7 Middle Tenn. 198
8 Kentucky 202
9 Vanderbilt 203
A good case for the Arkansas women being the current #1 can be made based on the UAB Classic which they won easily. But if NC State can get any two of Chmiel, Zachgo, Tuohy, or Starliper back up to full speed they will clearly be the better team. Clairmont and Steelman are the low sticks that Arkansas doesn't have this year. Of course getting your team to the starting line ready to run is the biggest part of the coaches job.
UAB Classic
1 - Arkansas - 42
2 - Georgia Tech - 104
3 - Florida State - 115
4 - Ole Miss - 118
5 - Tennessee - 121
6 - Kentucky - 126
ACC Champs
1 - NC State - 47
2 - Georgia Tech - 99
3 - Florida State - 109
SEC Champs
1 - Arkansas - 41
2 - Alabama - 57
3 - Ole Miss - 97
4 - Kentucky - 98
A case doesn't need to be made. They are already ranked number 1. You would only need to build a case if trying to prove that they are not number 1.
Looks like an average D3 team would do pretty well in dual against the 3rd best team in the SEC.

Easy case. Take Arkansas’ top four placers at Nationals last year who all have no eligibility left for cross and N.C. state wins. They have 6 of the 7 back and that does not include Tuohy or Starliper who are better than Ewert who is their 4th now. No contest. And their is no case that Arkansas is better than Stanford!

And UAB classic was like four teams so in a big race like ACC with over 10 teams Arkansas score is way higher than 42! Simple math.
