OMG, I hope Rupp replaces Hall at the top of the HM all-times list. Can't stand that guy and the people who think he is a 2:04 marathoner. (He's not, he ran 2:06:17 on a normal but fast course)
Go Ruppster!
also would be cool for him to get the record while running for a different coach after coming back from achilles surgery. He looked so smooth at the olympics trials....and John Kellogg himself estimated the hilly course to be 1:23 slower than a flat one...meaning Rupp solo'd a 2:07:high and looked relaxed while doing it in his first race back from a major surgery (for elite runners)
how can we watch this?
Only two competitors? Doesn't count as an AR. Sorry Rupp.
Please you know how this works anyone bucket they need to fill they will... 5 ppl or whatever running behind them from 10m back or something.

I know there are some strange rules, but when it comes to flat out "best performance", I don't think it should matter. You either can or cannot break the record. In fact if Rupp does break AR with just one other "competitor" I think it is even more impressive.
You cannot watch it. Follow their Tweets ....

The rules exist for a reason and that reason is to prevent athletes from suffocating the sport with these "races." Races should be reasonably accessible to fans and/or qualified competitors and if they deny us that then I have no problem denying them the American record recognition.

MORE impressive? Apparently you are not aware of how Ryan Hall set the current AR. It was essentially solo from the first couple of miles to the win. Rupp will have much more company with Osako.

Give me a break, it's the middle of a freakin pandemic. Cut the man some slack, he's going for it the only way he is allowed to for the entire foreseeable future. This kind of take with no regards to the situational context is the same thinking that sets back our sport.

Suffocating the sport with these "races"???? Sorry, that makes absolutely no sense. If it's certified within the allowable amounts, with witnesses, it should stand if he gets it. It's a pandemic and you're trying to find fault with a race versus enjoying what might happen and possibly seeing photos/videos later? You're part of the problem.
Anyone know what time it starts? Thanks.

"The only way he is allowed"?!? What are you talking about. Are you living under a rock? There have been multiple Half Marathon events recently, both Stateside and abroad. I believe there was just such an event 48 hours ago where about 40 of the best U.S. runners got together and RACED!

ugh... insufferable.
Athletes are doing everything they can to make it through this pandemic and it's arbitrary rules. Just take it in and try not to be such an @sshat.
No updates...AWESOME!
Nothing say faked bigger than a random secret race in a random unknown location with a floating start time (nothing indicated the race actually started). Nothing on the IG channel either.
Guess they'll start the race clock when they're good and ready at mile 1?
They have posted several updates on the insta story, including the race director talking. Still no news as to if they started yet but they are updating.
