I deliver a decent amount and you certainly can pull in pretty good money but there are a couple things.
First: The market you deliver in. If you have to drive 10 miles every time you want to make 8 bucks its pointless.
Second: If you run multiple apps and know the roads you can put in work. I normally run 2 doordash accounts plus an Uber Eats account at the same time, so I'm always stacking orders, not just occasionally. Doing this has allowed me to consistently pull in 1500 plus a week, and gives me freedom to run whenever I want.
I have 2 different cheap vehicles I use in case one needs repairs. Also have a mechanic who does work on the side from his home so repairs are not over the top expensive.
Another bonus is I travel around the country for 2 or 3 months a year hiking/camping so when I'm in a more populated area, I can sign on and make a few bucks whenever.
Biggest takeaway, its a lot of freedom and not bad income.
