Nick Cordes and the crew at Lubbock Christian aree already hosting an unofficial DII Championship this year and now they are adding a high school national invitational meet to the mix December 5th to fill the void of Footlockers and NXN being cancelled.

Look for the list of similar high school championship meets to grow. So far:
November 15- Terre Haute, IN
November 21- Huntsville, AL
December 5- Lubbock, TX
Yawn. Most states will prevent their athletes from going. This is not the year to a national championship.

I'm pretty sure these will be run as individual only, not teams, a la Footlocker.
I would also guess they'll collect all initial registrations then pare it down to the fastest times or speed rating.
Travel would then be on individuals and their parents or coach then with no school or state limitations.
Texas doesn't care if HS runners want to come race in their state during Covid19.

The Texas event will have teams and individuals. It's approved with the city so perfectly legal in terms of Covid.

The impact that the response to Covid is having on HS XC will extend well beyond this year, sadly.
Different states are handling things very differently... some appear to be holding their normal slate of championship meets. Here in NY, all sectional and state-level meets are canceled. Some leagues are holding dual and tri meets; some are holding time-trials; some schools aren't competing at all. Most schools that are competing show reduced rosters. It's essentially a lost season of competitive development for everybody here. It killed what would have been a pretty fascinating season for the boys in NY; a tiny school in the Adirondacks (Saranac Lake) had a really solid shot at being the best team in the state, maybe a once-in-a-century chance for a school that small. I'm not sure if they are even competing this season now. ?
Any regional or national "club" or individual events would be great, if they can be held safely with some semblance of common sense.
