I don’t want to sound mean but that guy seems like a real jerk.

Trolling I know, but not funny.
More than a real jerk. A sick psycho is a better descriptor. And I don't feel bad saying it.
What happened to her should never happen. Women should not be in fear of something like this happening when out running in the middle of the day. End of story.

I would go one step further and say that women should not be in fear of something like this happening when out running at any time, day or night.
People like this deserve to be tortured to death. Legally. Let the victim's family decide how

Not disagreeing with the general sentiment. The problem with torture is that someone has to plan it and carry it out. That is always a bad thing for that someone.
NOBODY deserves to plan and carry out torture - least of all those who might volunteer.

I'm not excusing this man's actions, but this is the predictable outcome of creating a society where a huge chunk of the male population is unable to obtain sexual intimacy. When you deprive people of their basic needs, whether it's food or shelter or sex, bad things happen.
I wonder if he hit her, then thought about the assault, or he hit her with the sole intent of committing assault after she was disabled.
Either way, the guy is/was unbalanced and deserves to be punished every day all day for the rest of his life.
God rest that beautiful woman’s soul :(
0/10 and reported
Unable to obtain? You aren’t entitled to it.
Figure out how to make yourself attractive to the opposite sex or else you don’t reproduce and your genes die out. Such is the way the world works.
This is a disgusting argument. And a false premise anyway. Men can pay for intimacy. There are thousands of women on sites like Onlyfans who can be paid to talk to you and show an interest. And there are ways to pay for sexual services as well. I've also seen plenty of HIDEOUS weirdo men who have a wife or girlfriend. They've just got to be willing to settle for weird ugly women, who are willing and even happy to be with them.
But this guy wasn't interested in what his options were. He wanted to rape this particular beautiful woman and felt so entitled to it he felt her life should end so he could do that. That's not due to society failing to fulfill 'basic needs'.
**Since my last post, I've discovered that btw, he had a wife. She has since filed for divorce after he was arrested, but they were two years married. She's a classy looking woman who is FAR more attractive than he is. She claims in her filing that he abused her. He still did this evil thing even though he wasn't a loner who never touched a woman. Not that those types have any excuse anyway for doing something like this.

This is nonsense. You have a dreadful, dreadful crime, and you have people calling for women to be safe, quite correctly, and then you post some awful victim claiming nonsense by someone who wants to report that someone drove past her, stopping briefly????????
Maybe they thought they were having a fight?
In a world of dreadful crimes, why do we let the actual horrors get submerged by non-events and desperate attention seekers?
No, she didn't think they were having a fight. In the article it says she gave her a disgusted look and shook her head. Very obviously it's not on the same scale as the first article - but the people in this second article aren't talking about that specific incident and I am sure they would all be the first to say it's not on the same scale. It doesn't mean it's nothing though. It sounds like it scared her. We don't know her history, if another incident has escalated etc.
It says in the 2019 Runner’s World survey, 84 percent of women have been harassed while running.
Then it goes on to say if you add another level of other (so something like being disabled, black, Asian, gay etc) the risk goes up. Is anyone really surprised? I don't think most women would be surprised.
Have you read the part of the article aboout indigenous women? It says "On some reservations, Indigenous women are 10 times more likely to be murdered than the national average, according to Justice Department data". These people are trying to change that. I don't think they should be criticised. They want to make running safe for all - what is to be criticised about that?
I have had about 15 incidents while running.
They range from not so serious to thinking I was going to be abducted (a truck driver in rural England, I was in high school, about 17. He would not go away and it was deserted. He said some extremely horrible things).
I hope this woman rests in peace. It is sad.
I also wish, on a more broader scale, there wasn't the background fear and worry about this. Every time I leave home I have to change out of my leggings because if I don't, I get stupid comments. I get sick of changing into jeans. I want to be comfortable. I wish one day I could just wear what I want outside, especially in the summer. I also wish I could go on walks any time I wanted, like 2am if I wanted to. I also wish I could walk in certain areas. It all adds up. Still I know I have way more freedom here than a lot of countries (e.g. compared to Saudi Arabia) so I try to be grateful for that.

Point me in the direction of the articles about women abducting and assaulting men who are out running.
so assaults/harrassment of men only count when females do it? ok then you can start with hit and runs. pick any direction you want.
This is such awful story. Truly horrific. Unfortunately there are people out there that do evil things. The sick bstrd that did this will rot in hell and should be punished thoroughly here on Earth.
In general, women are more vulnerable. It's been that way throughout history. I don't see how anyone here can deny that.
It is sad that anyone has to fear being assaulted on their run. That said, incidents like this are rare. People shouldn't be paranoid, but should take some precautions to be safe. Also, it's not just running.. Women are assaulted, raped, murdered walking home from parties, night out with friends, work, etc.

Good lord, obviously no. People are responding to the article posted by the OP, which has nothing to do with the assault of men. Now wipe up those tears and go back to your fruit loops, it will be ok little buddy
