Is the course in Terre Haute faster than this Huntsville course? They both are holding postseason meets on the same weekend.
Huntsville is hands down faster, and will likely have better weather. Terre haute is a good XC course, but it is not a fast course. Huntsville has soccer/football field quality turf on every step of the course.
One more thing, they aren't on the same weekend. Terre Haute is Nov 15th. Huntsville is the 21st.
Looks like the top 3 boys in the country have all registered for this meet. With the weather that is typical in Alabama during November I wouldn't be surprised if 14:1Xs is possible on that course!

Where are you seeing an entry list? Probably missing something stupid but all I can find is a participant lookup. Trying to scope out competition lol
I've seen updates on the RunningLane social media platforms. Facebook, instagram, etc
Looks like they now have 6 of the top 15 boys in the Nation.
They also have a 13:48 5k guy in the open race!
This really looks like the place to be for Nationals this year!

The point of XC is to run in terrible weather not some golf course in the south on a 70 degree and sunny day. I'll take the Terre Haute course in November 8 days a week.
There are also some very good cross country programs who just can’t run at Terre Haute even if they wanted to because it is on the same weekend as their state meet.

Okay, I'll give them a pass then.
Seems like we have 3 meets trying to be the national championship at this point. Obviously this is all bubbling up organically, but nice to see some solid competition. At the very least, we will have some competitive regional-type all star meets.
I didn't realize the point was to run in crappy conditions.....BTW its not usually 70 degrees in November in Alabama. Also I guess noone in the state of California should ever run Cross country since they don't have crappy conditions.
"Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain such as dirt or grass. Sometimes the runners are referred to as harriers.[1] The course, typically 4–12 kilometres (2.5–7.5 mi) long, may include surfaces of grass, and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road. It is both an individual and a team sport; runners are judged on individual times and teams by a points-scoring method. Both men and women of all ages compete in cross country, which usually takes place during autumn and winter, and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures."
It seems to me that Terre Haute should have researched the weekends a little better. Don't get mad cause you picked a weekend when lots of states can't race.
Lol, that definition you copied contradicts your own statements and supports mine. "pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills,"...."and can include weather conditions of rain, sleet, snow or hail, and a wide range of temperatures."
I had no idea that the course was actually on a golf course, I just figured it was with that course record. The difficulty of a course should play a factor in cross country. These "tracks on grass" are not in the true spirit of cross country.
Crap courses in crap conditions. That's what XC is all about.
Also the average high in Huntsville during November is a touch under 64 degrees. Sounds like short-sleeve weather to me!
Actually it doesn't, you said the POINT of running XC is to run in terrible conditions. My link said it "CAN INCLUDE" all weather conditions, nothing about requiring nice try though.
It also said it "MAY include surfaces of grass, and earth, pass through woodlands
and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road." Again looks like it MAY include all of those terrains, but none of them being a requirement. I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.
I guess you prefer running slow times in slow conditions. It looks like 6 of the fastest 15 guys in the nation prefer Huntsville so far!

But silly squabble aside regarding the requirements for a xc course. I'm just glad there are options for these kids that have trained hard all summer and fall for A moment and now they have options beyond their state meet!
