Hey guys. I am a freshman at a pretty solid university and am considering transferring. The school is great, the teammates are great, and the coach is awesome, but it is far from home and it is hitting me harder than I had expected. I have suffered from depression and have not had that to any sort of the same extent previously. It has caused me to run poorly as well. This is by far the worst season I've ever had and would enjoy transferring to the school I'm thinking about going to, but I really respect and admire my current coach. He did a lot to get me here and I don't want to just blow him off now. If I do go ahead with the transfer process, should I give it until near the end of the year to start talking to him about it or get on it a lot sooner? Obviously, if I start talking to the other coach, he's going to have to give notice to my current school and all that. Does anyone have experience with this or any advice?
