Jack, don't give me athlete that I don't coach, please. Bungei is with my friend Gianni Ghidini, also coach of Yiampoy and Kamel (Konchellah). Rutto is with Dieter Hoger. The fact that I know very well how some other athlete trains, doesn't mean that I'm his coach.
Mutua and Kwalia had, this year, a lot of health problems.
Joseph (that in any case is no more a my athlete : already last year I pushed him to Ghidini) had a strange virus, that reduced completely his muscle strength. Now is resting, for recovering energy, but nobody could understand what happened.
About Kwalia, he had problems in his back, and till now is not perfectly ok. He will go for some investigation in Doha at the beginning of October (already is there), and we will see if the problem is serious or not.
Regarding Shaheen, he will compete essentially in flat distances. May be that he run World Indoor, of sure he will run cross. The plan is to try the WR of steeple only once, running only twice the event (the other time is the World Cup for Asia). I want to see him very close 3:30 in 1500m and under 7:25 in 3000m.
Kemboi had this year his "full" of bad luck, with the injury during the race in WCh (nailed by Zersenay Tadesse with 4 laps to go) that forced him to stay 4 days with a pair of crutches (and he ran 26:51 in Bruxelles after 4 days with crutches, one week only walking, two days jogging and one workout with training shoes in St.Moritz with 12 x 1000m rec. 1:30 starting from 2:52 and finishing in 2:36), and the last fall in the shower 5 days before WHMCh, that he had the goal to win.
He is one of the best talent I ever saw, almost the same level of Shaheen. If everything will be ok, he can try to beat WHMR and, why not, the current 26:17 of Bekele.
You forgot Dorcus Inzikuru, that, like Shaheen, will run flat events. But she has to compete in steeple some more time : Commonwealth, African Champs and World Cup are the goals, together with 4:00 in 1500m, 8:32 in 3000 and 14:35 in 5000 (of course, under 9:10 in steeple).
But you can put your attention to the following names :
Jamal Bilal Salem, that can run steeple under 8:00 -
Besluke Kiplagat, 17 years, that can do like Brimin Kipruto two years ago -
Mubarak Shami, that can run under 2:07 in Marathon and beat the WR of 25 / 30k -
Rita Jeptoo, that can run Marathon under 2:23 -
Philip Manyim, ready for running under 2:07 after winning Berlin.
