Trying to plan a vacation for January time frame and I was looking at Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. If it snows is it gonna be difficult to run in the Grand Canyon?

G C closes November 1. You can come in look but you can’t enter until March 15
Run IN the Grand Canyon???
I hiked the canyon (South Kaibab to Bright Angel) the week of Thanksgiving in 2016 so not really sure what "closed" on November 1st means unless this is new. I know the North Rim closes but I'm pretty sure the south rim is open year round. It was dry when I hiked it but there's definitely a high probability of snow/ice in winter.
I went Jan if 2016 on rock roll Phoenix weekend. Was bad snow on highway between Phoenix and flagstaff. Very little snow at Grand Canyon. I stayed in hotel that is in the park right on rim. Everything was open

Yeah, the south rim has always been open in the winter before. There is nothing about closing Nov. 1. Keep in mind the conditions on the canyon floor may be very different from the rim. I did an rrr in mid-October once when the south rim got 6 inches of snow the day before. The first 2 miles or so of the descent were icy but below that the trails were completely dry and temps hit 70s in the afternoon.
https://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/hours.htmReally? North Rim closes down for the winter. Dec to May.
It can get very cold and windy at the Grand Canyon in January.

Thanks! My first choice was to go in January because that just works better for my schedule but I might try and go sometime in May...

I am pretty sure I ran down on March 1st. There was a foot of snow in the campground and obviously not many people there.
There was only some snow and ice on the first switchbacks. That's probably different in January.
"The South Rim of the park is usually open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. "
Of course next January with Covid it might be different.
The Grand Canyon is closed permanently as of November 1st.
They will be filling it in and building a 27,000 unit luxury condo community.
Sounds nice, I would love to go.

Why? It’s clear by now COVID is a joke.
Covid pause starts November 1, it’s hitting employees hard

Yeah, just 1.1 million people died because of it. What a joke.

Nothing fake about this pandemic. Even the Russian trolls on this website are real.
