CDC study just found no difference in rates of contracting the virus between people who did and did not wear masks.
Masks are a psychological crutch to make you feel comfortable going shopping. They do nothing.
Actually, no, this is not the case. And this is what happens when you listen to people who take data out of context.
Dr. Todd Rice, lead author of the study and associate professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, told NBC News that the research is actually “mask neutral” and that the data wasn’t designed to argue for or against mask wearing.
Even the CDC themselves have tweeted that the assertions are incorrect.
This is what the study actually showed:
https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/states-lift-restaurant-restrictions-cdc-report-links-dining-out-increased-n1239771Further, it was self-reported mask wearing. No one checked to see if masks were worn properly. People went out to eat without them. Plus, people who are compromised and scared of getting Covid are way more likely to wear masks. So that is a self-selecting group.
I don't know if masks are good or bad for the individual from this study - there isn't enough data. The data is flawed in terms of testing masks. They were not testing masks. TBH the CDC should know better really.
