Recently, my training has been really good, exactly a week ago I hit a pr of 1635 for the first meet of the season (a 40 sec pr from last year), my season goal is to get under 1630 on our home course. We had another meet today and I ended up missing my pr by 5secs. I started off the race and could already tell it would not be a good race. My breathing was really off, my legs felt better, but I felt like I didn’t have enough energy and seriously came close to DNFing. I worked out on Saturday (today is Wednesday) and it was a pretty rough workout but my legs were pretty recovered after. On Sunday I did an easy long run at 710 pace yet my breathing felt more difficult than usual. I took an off day on Monday and did a classic pre-meet run (warmup a mile, then pretend to run 2 miles but end up walking, then strides). I managed to sleep great the night before the meet and had online school so I lay down in my bed during most of the zoom calls, to get extra recovery. Felt ok ok the race warmup yet felt awful racing. My training is hovering around 50 miles a week. Am I overtraining, or was it just one bad race? Is there anything I should improve before next race (maybe do a better pre meet run, or keep active the day of the race)? Thanks
