I have been training through races for the past 2 months and doing double workout days often. Typical week would look like
Tues: Am: 5x1 mi 5:25 90 sec rest
Pm: 8x1k 3:15 1 min rest
Thurs: Am: 5 mile around hm pace 5:30-5:45 /premeet if race
Pm: 16x200 @32-33 1 min rest
Essentially Tuesday’s are 2 thresholds and Thursday are 1 threshold and 1 easy speed so legs don’t feel flat. Rest is easy mileage anywhere from 6:00-7:30s weekly mileage around 80-90
Workouts have been going good and I feel fit but Races not where I need to be because I’m not tapering. My question is will 1 week be enough to feel fresh if that week before important race I cut mileage to about 40 and dknt do any workout that week Just easy mileage. Or will I still show up feeling heavy tk the race?
