Last year, at an outdoor master meet held in February in Cali, I ran a 57.00 400m dash as a 36 year old and felt SO embarrassed by it. I thought I was in better shape than that, but the effort said otherwise.
I was able to run an 11.2 100m without tearing a hammy at the same meet after I ran that 400, and the 400 was really just supposed to be a training run for me, so that made me feel SLIGHTLY better about that 400, but not that much, since even 11.2 sucks. I would NOT have walked around admitting too often that I ran that 57.
And yet....here Symmonds is. Getting attention for a 57....jesus.
Love him or hate him? I never understood the hate for him before, but now? Pure hate. He's an idiot.
Why did you only run 57.0 ? What was your height and weight when you did it? Was that 11.2 FAT or hand timed?
Also i'm thinking that I might have potentially 51.50 second FAT speed in the 400 right now at 6'0 and 205 LBS but i'm not doing any 400 training due to the fact that i'm only training for the 60meter dash right now.
I might get a 100 in here over the next month on a warm day above 66 degrees to see where i'm at in it. Then i'll project my 400 time more accurately based on that 100. I'm projecting a PR in the 100 though based on how fast i've been running my 60s lately and based on the fact that i'm over .20 of a second faster in the 60 than I was in 2013 when I set my PR in the 100 of 11.32 hand timed from a standing start and no wind.
