10s slower than his PR but he says it's faster from a power-to-weight perspective

Nick is incorrect and now qualifies as a delusional aging has been. But at least he once was.
for it to be the same from a power:weight ratio, he would have to be like 50% more weight.
Yeah pretty lame. Sponsored by gymshark, spends lots of the video talking about how great weightlifting is and criticising running. I haven't been watching many of his videos lately and I think that will continue.
A few issues with this video and 400m run:
Why did he pick lane 2 when he could have picked a more favoranle lane with less sharp turns?
The 28 seconds he got at the 200 is incorrect. If he's in lane 2, then the 200 mark is about 1-1.5 seconds past his mark. He used lane 1 as a marker.
A cell phone used as a stopwatch is not a good idea. They tend to be innacurate compared to a traditional stopwatch.
Nick likes to make dumb running videos. You used to make lots of dumb running videos too. You and him run close to the same 400, now that he has slowed down.
You should challenge him to an open 400 out of blocks for one of his dumb videos. I'm sure he'll be willing to visit Seattle to do it. It'll be great. Everyone will want to see it.
Matt London would never do such a long time trial. What can Nick do in a 10 m dash?

Makes sense. But he has potential to do 49 to 50 at that bodyweight if he really wanted to I think. Most of the time it seems that he's not really focusing on one goal at a time. He's running multiple different things. I think if he put some serious focus into seeing how fast he could run at 183 lbs then he could definitely do 49 to 50 easily. But I could be wrong about that. He could potentially do around 46 to 47 at that weight if he really focused in.
But yeah I see exactly what he means by how he's a better overall athlete now that he is decently strong to go with it.
Most of the top guys in the 180-195 body weight range in cross fit can't run below 58 for the most part so this is actually a really good time for his bodyweight.
Does he know how to pole vault? I don't see why he couldn't go to the Olympics next year as a decathlete if he really wanted to.
400M times don't really seem more impressive based on bodyweight unless your over 200pounds. 183 is not unusual for a sprinter, Fred Kerly is 205 with a 43.6 400m. 183 could be closer to nicks natural weight, it would not be impossible to be faster than he used to be with more weight. He 'best' 400 should not be that much slower.
Cross fit guys are terrible sprinter, 183 is perfectly normal bodyweight. Shaving 10 secs off his 400 would be near impossible
He’s making money off those “dumb” videos...probably quite a bit of money. In fact, he’s making money from the engagement and traffic generated by LetsRun threads like this one.
The more we focus on/talk about what he’s doing, the more money he makes. And he’s very good at making that happen.

It's estimated that he makes over $3000 PER VIDEO, the more people share and complain here the more money he makes lol.
Also, I could agree with him, I watched the video, he has a great power to weight ratio being over 180lbs so yeah, shut up?
How can he be this slow.
As a former mediocre 800m runner I'm faster than that out of the couch with 0 running.

Lol you really must not have a very high opinion of American decathletes
It is really surprising how slow guys like Symmonds and Hall can get when they stop running. I guess weight plus age really slow people down. I bet if 22 year old Symmonds stopped running for a year and put on 40 pounds he could still run low 50s.

Hi Nicky!
First of all, Nick is great and his videos are a lot of fun. I'm here to talk about physics, not dis a World Championship silver medalist.
Power is (mass)*(distance^2)/(time^3).
PB Nick weighed 162 lbs (73.48 kg) and ran 400m in 47.45 seconds.
That's (73.48)*(400^2)/(47.45^3) watts = 100 watts
YouTube Nick weighed 183.6 lbs (83.28 kg) and ran 400m in 57.21 seconds.
That's (83.28)*(400^2)/(57.21^3) watts = 71 watts
To equal his PB wattage he'd have to run 49 seconds at his current weight or gain exactly 100 lbs and still run a 57.
So it's not his best-ever 400, but it's still a very good time for someone at his age who hasn't been training specifically for it.
On the other hand, the thread about his PB only got 26 posts. Here we're already up to 16, so maybe it will be the more talked-about run.
This is what one would call a mediocre performance at best.
I have run 53.3141592 seconds for 400 meters at weight of 212, Height: 5'10, IQ 83.
This was in the year 2014.
I would crush him one on one.
His power to weight is completely off balance. Says he lifts heavy but visually has the arms of a twink.
Now I am training again to beat my personal best. 2 trainings a week with 96 hours rest between to allow for fully muscle recovery. You can tell I don't juice by looking at my veins. Look at Arnold in the 70's, veins everywhere.
not a fan of this passive aggressive ratface

Why have you replaced hotness with IQ Matt? Ate you claiming to be the height weight low IQ world record holder now? Are you admitting that Nick is hotter than you?

Yeah besides that he can't jump, can't hurdle, can't throw, can't vault, and his sprint times are too slow, I don't see what's stopping him.

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
