This is a failed hunt but watch the beating a Cougar can take and still come back for more.

Geez, as soon as the guy turns his head the cat charges.
Those are bluff charges for displaying its claws.
Rocks are a good deterrent but in the wild the apes and the leopards are pretty evenly matched, and the apes can throw rocks too. What the apes can't do is wield a spear! Not well at least. That is how man defeated the beasts.
Always carry a stout spear, blade at least 20cm.
In case you don't know how a cougar looks in action.
Sea Lion attack is more dangerous . See the See lion eat the shark.
Went to the bar one night.
Got chased by a cougar.
Bigly.

Good point. Best point I've heard actually.
The cougars can get wild especially after a couple drinks.
I didn't watch all of it, but what I watched the cougar was walking towards him and not very close. BFD.
Rojo is late to his own party again

In true Gen Z / Millennial style, dude has to film the encounter for posting on social media later. As I watched this, I am thinking "Put the damned phone in your pocket, use your arms and voice to make yourself more intimidating to the cat, and look for opportunities to pick up some rocks!"
Nope. Keep filming away. This guy has no real sense of survival. Just get that awesome content! Cripes, if this were D-Day or Gettysburg, these kids would forget their rifles and charge into the breach with their iPhones hoping to get famous on Instagram or YouTube.
What concerned me the most was, that he held his phone not in landscape mode.
Cougar was a BYU agent working to eliminate the competition

Thanks for this!
It shows that these animals are NOT scared of taking on much larger prey, and will risk serious injury to do so.
Perhaps they don't have a natural drive to hunt humans, but I wouldn't underestimate them.
whatever this dude did or didn't do wrong at least he managed to hold his nerve when the thing came at him a couple of times.
it's the difference between life and death and i'm not sure how many of you would have been able to do the same.
If I was there I would just hurl rocks and smack them with tree branches and hopefully that will destroy them. I would then run like Bekele in case a cougar pack comes and chases me for revenge

This and the fact that he intentionally approached the cubs to get a photo almost makes me wish mama cat at least got a few slashes in. What a dope.

A good size rock upside the cat's head ought to dissuade it.
When I was a kid and dogs ran free, when being chased by a dog all you had to do was bend down as if you were getting a rock and the dog would stop dead in its tracks.
All dogs back then knew what is was to catch a rock in the head.
Good idea. Try that with a cougar and we'll all go over the details at your closed casket funeral
Backwards hat and yelling F U at a cougar. Dude doesn't deserve to go home after this. Cougar goes home devastated.
Lars would approve! As would Dave Parker.
