    No one is supporting lockdowns as a primary means of control.
    Most are supporting social distancing and mask wearing when you cannot social distance.

    Your article says that "a lack of services" in Adelaide was the cause of the deaths.

    Professor Karol Sikora, a cancer specialist and head of Buckingham Medical School, said the findings of the Mail’s audit were a “stunning demonstration of lockdowns’ harmful effects across society”.

    He added: “If lockdown were a drug, you’d need to consider the side effects, and yet we’re not – even though we seem to be diving headlong into another one.

    “People sometimes claim it’s a question of health versus the economy, but it’s not – it’s health versus health.” Professor Sikora supports last week’s Great Barrington Declaration, now signed by more than 10,700 scientists and 29,700 doctors worldwide, calling on governments to adopt an approach of ‘focused protection’, shielding the vulnerable while opening up the economy.

    Sunetra Gupta, one of the Declaration’s authors and an Oxford University epidemiologist, said: “These papers and data are starting to build the evidence to show that the collateral damage has been immense – and will continue with extreme measures such as lockdowns. The time has surely come to take their full costs measures into account.”

    It's relevant to scrutinize sources. It's rule one of journalism.

    I'm not suggesting lockdowns are cost-free and we definitely need to support those most affected. In fact lockdowns aren't really the focus, I'm much more concerned why the world's biggest economies can't adequately organize testing so we can track the spread. That would make lockdowns redundant.

    You're very quick to talk about 'agendas' when it comes to Democrats or media or whoever. This guy has an agenda. He's said if he were to die of COVID, combating it is still not justified because the GDP loss from lockdown is greater than the GDP contribution he and those who die have made.

    What is the content then?

    These aren't effects of the lockdown. The root cause here is a pandemic, which unavoidably has direct and indirect consequences. With no restrictions, and business as usual, it will be like New York was in April, for all of America. Many of these cancer patients, transplant patients, and doctors, will still die. We must pick our poison.

    As far as I know, hospitals aren't locked down, being considered "essential".

    They might be at over-capacity because of an out of control pandemic. The best way to avoid that is to get the spread of a very contagious and lethal virus under control.

    Everyone wants kids to go to back to school. The best way to achieve that is to get the spread of a very contagious and lethal virus under control.

    What is sorely lacking in the USA is national leadership and coordination. Besides a partial travel ban on China in January, what has been done?

    It's not about trust, it's about passing a discerning eye over everything you see. It's clear you have no idea what to think and have rejected everything.

    It's very easy from the sources you cite to see which corners of the internet you've been to and very easy to see why the people you listen to are spreading the narrative they do. Toby Young, @Allen53's source believes in eugenics and hyper-utilitarianism. He's only ever going to post anti-lockdown messages because unless the virus is going to effect the economy by killing enough productive members, we should all do our patrio-economic duty and ignore it.

    It's about recognizing the position your sources speak from. Nobody expects (or wants) balanced opinion but just honesty of opinion.

    Oh I went shopping today again, to Costco, Home Depot and Walmart.

    I did not wear a mask at any time, and no one said anything about it, except the guy at the entrance to Costco, who I've known there for years and years. I simply said that I don't wear one for health reasons and he happily waved me into the store. No one else anywhere said anything.

    As usual, people were coming up talking to me in every one of the stores and making conversation. I imagine they were quite happy to see someone who they could actually talk with. So we smiled and laughed, and then went on our ways. The employees were quite friendly with me too.

    I didn't bother to even notice if anyone else was wearing a mask or not, as I'm quite comfortable now not wearing one, whether anyone else is or not.

    I encourage YOU, if you likewise don't believe in the masking or in wearing a diaper on your face, to do the same thing and go shopping without it.
