There's at least 5 guys who will be able to run sub 26:45
Cheptegei
Kipruto
Gebriwhet
Kejelcha
Barega
Mo Ahmed
By 2021 I suspect all those guys will achieve sub 26:45 shape.

All those guys wont be in the 10k.
Probably 4-5 of them.
But I'm sure Cheptegei will make sure the pace is really fast to drop farah.
This is not a particularly controversial IMHO. I think most would agree with you.

this. unless farah is a lot closer to his peak form than we all believe.
i think most people pegged him for 26:30 ballpark area. His strength should be as good or better than ever, but is he still in the ballpark of maybe 3:32 speed?
You're right. There won't even be a 2021 Olympics.
What an incredible match up. The world record holder hot off his 2 world records vs the 4x gold medalist who also broke a world record this year...

+1
We all know that Joshua doesn't have a sub 55 last 400m on 10k. So he better get out hot and stay away from Mo.

Have you seen Mohammed Farah race 10000m at W.C. or Olympics? Farah takes the lead between 2000m and 8000m if he believes it is best to slow the race down. Others tend to allow Farah to slow down the pace.
Cheptegei could be 250m ahead of Mo by the finishing lap Mo's kicking won't matter.
On the track Farah was only beaten in a sprint. Even Kamworor couldn't run away from him before the end. How much better is Cheptegei than Kamworor and how much has Farah lost? Mo is getting on in years so maybe his reign is over.
How do you mean?
I think if Cheptegei is 250m ahead by the bell lap we ave to assume that mo wont get him??
I wouldn't be shocked if Mo somehow won. It seems like even when it best suits them to push the face, the Africans let the pace go way slower than ideal, allowing for someone like Farah to be in it to use his kick. I doubt Cheptegei will be in the same kind of shape next year...who knows, though.
I could see a situation where he gets dropped by some of the younger fast guys early, but a few fall off the lead pack and he out kicks them for the bronze.

I think that he will he has a good trainer, and he still hasn't achieved anywhere near what he hopes to achieve (0 Olympic medal). What I mean by that is that he will still be very hungry to get those medals, and so very motivated. Thus he will train very seriously and race hard.
Unless of course he gets injured...

You're missing Kiplimo.
I would be surprised if Mo medals as well. Cheptegei's best move is to run a sub-13 minute 5,000 to close out the race. I would peg Barega, Kipruto, Kiplimo, Gebriwhet, Kamworor and even the rising Kimeli as more likely to survive this sort of move than Mo.
If it were not an honest race and instead sit and kick, I'd like his chances, but most likely it will be a humbling race for Mo.
