I don't need to watch it, I know what they'l say:
"I am very happy to win the london marathon"
"Conditions were a bit difficult but I try my best"
zzz
Are there any elite marathons with a bit of personality? At least Mo (former marathoner albeit) liked to have a moan now and again, mostly at hotels.
'marathoners' that should obviously have said.
THIS is the reason our part of the sport remains niche and is losing visibility in Europe and North America. No disrespect to the amazingly talented athletes but, bland statements in broken English and shy smiles are not marketable in today's media driven world. Agents and handlers need to be working with East African runners to at least have a few phrases beyond "I felt good" and "I run my best today" for the cameras. Then again, their very short professional careers probably do not lend themselves to having the time to do that.
You can’t knock Lelisa’s interview. This guy has personality.
“I decided to champion because I trained hard.”
