We just lost Eddie.
Erik Van Halens uncle.
If Heaven exists, imagine the insane metal band that could be jamming right now?

Van Halen, thankfully, was not a metal band.
But Eddie, thankfully, did have an influence on Dimebag and Randy. Dimebag is buried with one of Eddie's guitars.
I interviewed Aric trackside in Vancouver. It was odd for me to see Van Halen on his bib having grown up idolizing his uncle. Nice kid. Unlike his cousin Wolfgang, he is not musical at all.
He said, "They really tried to get me to learn and I just couldn't." (paraphrasing).
Sad day for music.
“Eruption” introduced Eddie Van Halen to the rock world. It was unbelievable for those of us old enough to have been there when you get this guitar solo that slides right into their cover of The Kinks' "You Really Got Me". Just unbelievable the very first song on their very first album a badass solo and then nothing but scorchers from top to bottom.
There are very few first albums that impacted the rock music world like Van Halen's. Maybe Aerosmith's first one- not too many others.

We'll get higher and higher
Straight up we'll climb
We'll get higher and higher
Leave it all behind
OU 812 is probably my favorite VH album. Had some epic deadlift sessions to it! Am lucky to have survived.
Effing cancer, gets everyone sooner or later. RIP Eddie
Overrated MOR FM radio c0ck rock.
Not nice falling off the perch at 65 though, throat cancer is usually lifestyle related (it's all about the things you imbibe in most cases), so look after yourselves kiddies.

I love that album. It has so much energy. It's like everybody played as fast as they possibly could to get to the end of each musical "sentence."
Bummer. RIP.
one article said he thought he got it from the metal pics that he always had in his mouth.
God to a generation
