I've started weightlifting a few weeks ago, in order to gain strength and be able to run faster, but I'm also on a diet (500 cal/day deficit) in order to lose some weight and also run faster.
But, will I be able to make gains in Strenght while on a caloric deficit? (I don't care about building muscle, just becoming stronger)
Runners who chose events 1500m and longer risk overall health issues and a reduction in running performance by starving. Cut out bad calories. Leave it at that. Runners suffer more injuries than swimmers obviously due to runners fighting gravity. Also, the stupidity of starving. Runners see Eliud Kipchoge at 115 pounds and then think 115 is proper for everyone. O.P. did not state height, weight or percentage of body fat. Kate Ledecky walks around at 6' 170 + pounds. I am sure she does not starve.
