On a whim I decided to run my first marathon in 10 weeks. I'm just a hobby jogger, although I want to break 3 hours (I know it's unlikely)
Background:
Casually (~100 miles/year) for the past 4 years, decided to get relatively more serious about it at the beginning of Feb. Mileage has been spotty - I started around 20, quickly jumped to 40 by Mar, then starting mid Apr had a stretch of 70, 51, 62, 61, 61, 33, 70, 60 before burning out although I didn't get injured. Didn't take any time off, but did a few weeks of ~15 miles and have been around 25-35 ever since (about 13 weeks).
Recent:
Haven't done any races, but did do a 1 mile solo time trail today in 5:09. Did a 13 mile long run with my friend last weekend around 7:20 pace, mostly chatting and cruising. Also did an easy 18.5 mile run ~8:30 pace a few weeks back on vacation, so don't think doing a 20 mile long run would be a problem for my current fitness. My easy runs are generally 8-8:30 pace, haven't done many workouts except and occasional 12x45s on/off fartlek or a 20 min tempo ~6:30 pace.
Any tips, workouts etc on how to train to maximize my potential in these 10 weeks? How much mileage, long run distance/frequency/pace, doubles? Again, I know sub 3 will prob be unlikely, but do want to give it a shot. If any more info is needed I can gladly provide.
