Obviously running beats cross-training but I was wondering what would be the most optimal way to get aerobically fit with a combination of the two? I read in Nick Symmonds's training log that before a very important race he got hurt so for about a month he converted all his running workouts into swim workouts, for example, 10x400 became 10 by a minute hard in the pool. Because of COVID I don't have access to a public pool but I have access to a bike that I want to log some hours on. My plan right now is to cross-train everyday post-run and 2 hours on any day I don't run. Does this seem feasible or is there a more efficient way to get fitter?
