Yo,
Its time. I want to be v02Max tested to see what my upper limits are. Have any of you done this? How expensive is it? Where can I get this kind of test done?

VO2 max testing is a complete waste of time and money, based on an outdated conjecture. Steve Magness thoroughly destroys the 'science' on VO2 max in his book. (By the way, that's an O for oxygen, not a zero as you wrote.)

I did write an "O" in the post title. I'm no fool.
You should test It just to see how fit are you aganist global population . They can also determine your HR zones. It costs anywhere from 100-200 $
If you just get the vo2max it is useless. If you get the vo2max, lactate threshold and your running economy AND have the knowledge to interpret those numbers it can be a game changer
So what are you going to do with the information?
If the VO2max is really high, what if you never achieve times that people with a high VO2max often achieve?
If the VO2max is low, are you going to quit running?
I still cannot say it is a complete waste (having conducted north of a thousand of them in my career), but I think you need to have a reason in mind to do it. If that reason is bragging rights, then so be it.
I think there is less value in a one-off test than doing them as part of a comprehensive plan.
My watch tells me what my VO2max is. One can save the money on the test and put it toward a watch.
If they sensibly train, one can start making sense of, and understand and use the information the watch is providing (as flawed as it might be).

A running economy test where you can try out a few different shoes might be a truly useful business for running stores (although maybe technologically infeasible).

Unless your watch has a breathing tube you hook into, it does not.
It's close enough.
There is a university close to me that does testing in their human performance lab. I got a dexa scan done last year, a professor did the scan and a couple students watched. I want to say it was $100 but they gave me a discount so thinking it was $75 maybe? They have VO2 max and LT tasting, I can't find the price list, but thinking 100-150$.

Can you or anyone else point me to a peer-reviewed research article by Magness?
