This is a professional sports franchise with $500m/yr in revenue and all kinds of high paid management and marketing people, and when it came time to drop the Redskins name, the best replacement they could come up with was "Washington Football Team"? Are they trying to be ironically simple minded like how some hipsterish businesses are named things like "that Bar," or are they really just this lacking in any kind of creativity?
The name change was a long time in the making and management had years to brainstorm. And still a swing and a miss when the time came.
