Notre Dame Law School (1997) – JD, summa c*m laude, graduated #1 in her class, served as executive editor of the Notre Dame Law Review
LAW CAREER
1997 – 1998 – Served as judicial law clerk for Judge Laurence Silberman (US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit)
1998 – 1999 – Served as judicial law clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia (US Supreme Court)
1999 – 2002 – Practiced law with Washington, D.C. based Miller, Cassidy, Larroca & Lewin. Also served as a visiting Associate Professor at the George Washington University Law School and at the University of Virginia Law School
2002 – Present – Professor at Notre Dame Law School. Selected as Distinguished Professor of the Year by the Law School's graduating class three times.
Current position: Circuit judge on US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin) since November, 2017. Appointed by President Trump and confirmed by the Senate 55-43 (three Democrats voted to confirm, including Sen Tim Kaine, Hilary Clinton’s VP running mate in 2016; two Democrats abstained).
September 26, 2020 – Nominated by President Trump to serve as the 115th US Supreme Court Justice. She would be the 5th female Justice and the 3rd youngest person to be confirmed since 1962 (Clarence Thomas, 43; William Rehnquist, 47)
