So I am a junior in high school and I have just been diagnosed with It Band Syndrome. The doctor told me to take a week off of running to let my It band heal. However, this is horrible timing because I start post season in 2 weeks and this is the one year our team has a chance at placing at state. I am going to be consistently swimming for the next week and doing workouts in the pool but I'm no sure how fast I'll be able to run again once I'm back. Will I be able to get back to the same fitness I am in now in time? Also how much does cross training prevent loss of fitness?
