US fans, hows the announcing? I'm listening to the international feed.
Swangaard solid as usual, Ato is fine, but Montano still trying to find her way.
Main event now after an already pretty good meet.
Thoughts? I think winning time will be right at 8:30, Obiri Tirop Chepkoech and Tsegay will be in contention late

Cheruiyot ran his PB of 1:43 low in Kenya almost two years ago. He is here to run a new PB. So expect a 1:42 world lead. It is a matter of how low he can go.
Lol. 1:46.78. Slower than Jakob. Tim seems to be going backwards.
Yeah, that 1:46 he can run in his sleep. He sure wasn't in this race. At least he keeps his winning streak over 1500m.

Hoppel looks like he is tired but he has only raced a few times. Last year he raced a full NCAA season and still finished strong in Doha. What's the deal?

8:27.50 is what I think will win
good catch. Kiyeng also looking good.
8 still there with a lap to go in W3000, Hull way off the back.
Tight finish obiri 8:22
Great race. Obiri "gutted" it out indeed. Had to be some PBs and SBs behind her.
Terrific race, Obiri cranked it up with 350m to go and closed very hard for a 8:22.5. Chepkoech was challenging hard, Tirop pipped her at the line. Good stuff to Tsegay, 8:25 is very good for a 1500m. runner. Also great by Laura Weightman, almost equalled her PR.

Chepkoech PB at 3,000 now makes more sense at 8:22.92. Kenyans go 1-5, and Kiyeng is going to be tough to beat in the Steeple now that she's back in form.
Tim didn't look good in the 800. Sure he was rusty but he got out extremely slow, and then ran way too much extra distance trying to improve his position. Rotich looked really good, and Giles put in a nice effort. Otherwise, everyone else ran pretty poorly including Hoppel.
I think it showed that the Kenyans and some others had not raced as much as in other seasons. E.g. Kiyeng clearly ran below par at the Doha WC, maybe because of too many hard races during a long season. (And she beat Chepkoech in Berlin two weeks ago!)
But I didn't expect such fast times below 8:25, really a strong finish with about 2:43 last k and 62? last lap for Obiri

Hull did the right thing, she might have run close to 8:30 in ideal conditions and it was right to try to stay as long with lead group as possible but she pulled the breaks early enough to secure a good result.

Alysia needs to call it quits
I thankfully got to hear the Brits commentate this time, after hearing her in Rome. I don't feel bad being blunt and saying she is awful, because she just so clearly has not prepared. Commentators need to research, you can't just turn up as an exrunner and talk.
She doesn't seem to know the stories behind any of the athletes, any of their recent races, or any idea what's unfolding.
Cram and Hutchings, meanwhile, give the impression that they're childhood friends with every athlete. They give so much insight

I think hot weather is great for everything 1500 on down.
What's up with Kipyegon's stomach?
Just normal scarring from a C-section pregnancy. Nothing about it
