I just graduated college in the spring, and I really regret not racing on an official team. I was able to run 14:40 while training on my own, but that’s not the same.
I’m thinking about going to grad school next year and would like the opportunity to run for an NCAA team. Unfortunately, I will have burned through my 5 year clock (or have just 1 year left for D2).
If I lie on the eligibility forms and change my name do you think anyone would notice? It’s not like I’ll be a 13:30 guy attracting national attention, and I can’t imagine they vet everyone super seriously.
Alternatively, are there any legitimate ways to get more years of eligibility? I’ve never competed for a school, and I had some injury trouble in college. Maybe I could use that as a justification? Besides, I’d still be younger than most of the BYU guys.
Genuinely looking for advice on how to chase the dream
