Over a 12 month period, and for a relatively new runner, would it be better to run typical 5k workouts year-round, or advisable to build in a 4-6 month period of mainly easy running to pump up mileage and build a ‘base’ before running fast?
For context, Looking to go sub-18 in next 12 months or less; current pb of 19:30 off 40miles/week; started at 22min 4 months ago.
