so, i ran a fast marathon back in the spring.... and then I took a break from the sport.
Now i'm BACK, and there is a 10k in 6 weeks that i want to rock. How can I cut corners to get fit fast? Start with intervals, VO2 max, tabata, HIIT, whatever it takes. Forget long term development, my next big goal race is next June. I want to do something fun to jumpstart my training.
Now i realize that "fit" is relative. I would be pretty thrilled if i could run 10k@ 5:50 in 6 weeks. Ive been running like 2-3x a week, 3-4 miles a time. This week I am going to run 25 and build from there.
My plan was starting immediately with a little tempo and a little VO2 max each week. Yesterday I wan 4x800m @ 5:55 pace, and i would call it easy. On thursday I think I will either run 8x400m or some longer hills, and saturday i will do an hour over steady terrain. On my off days i will jog 20 min and roll/stretch
