I'll give you some real advice here:
Taking multi vitamin is good, but if you need an iron supplement, take an iron supplement. The best way to figure out whether you need to be on an iron supplement is to get a serum ferritin test. If you are below 40, plan on taking a daily iron supplement. You can take an iron supplement in pill form or liquid or rotate between the two. With an iron supplement, take it with vitamin C and stay away from zinc, magnesium, calcium or caffeine. Those will block the absorption of iron.
