It's ok as long as you are properly acclimatized to avoid getting altitude sickness. If you want to run some events at extremely high altitude I would suggest these.

The Mt. Everest Marathon

With each of these events you'll need at least two weeks to acclimatize. The Everest Marathon will require at least a week just to trek to the starting line at approximately 17,000ft.
