This is a garbage take. You know what is worse than Trump supporters, liberals who say dumb sh!t like this and alienate people. I am not a covid denier, but because I see how the way we are handling this pandemic is not sustainable, is harming our kids etc... people like get automatically lumped in with "covididiot trump supporters".
OP, I agree. I have 2 boys one in middle school one in second grade both %100 distance learning, meanwhile my wife and I are both WFH. The distance learning for our youngest is a joke and the school district is handling this terribly. There is no help, no support, and if you complain 'oh your a trump supporter who wants grandma to die'.
What's the solution? Here is what we've tried and the results/pitfalls:
Do Nothing and let Darwinism Happen - misery, death, overflowing hospitals, possible long term health consequences/costs for survivors
Full Lockdown - this might work but, Wall Street will lose money and the economy will tank creating misery
Everyone Wears Masks - may help but, too many "Mah FREEDOM!" types get agitated and threaten violence or just ignore it and spread virus
Partial Lockdown - our current scenario with mixed results, confusion, and loads of b-hurt
Conspiracy/Bio-Weapon/Hoax Gambit - talk tough, post sketch articles to back up tough talk, blame China with results similar to the Do Nothing scenario
You and many others are understandably frustrated but, our political situation created a patchwork of competing action plans and leadership paralysis. The virus doesn't care who you vote for. I'll refrain from discussing how we might have nipped this in the bud in February because we cannot change the past. Other than getting clicks, likes, and poking bears, what good comes from kvetching about the situation without having an action plan? Make the most of what you have or pressure leaders to improve things. This is our reality. Change has happened. We are not going back to living like December 2019 anytime soon. Adults have to adapt and kids need to adapt.
