Transpersonal psychology deals with the transition of thought from the physical world to the Spiritual world. Thoughts that move beyond physical thoughts to spiritual thoughts.
Pretty much a stock standard use of the prefix “trans”
There are likely hundreds of words, maybe even 1000, words in the English language that have the prefix “trans” meaning across, through, or beyond.
You haven’t posted a single word, not one, where the prefix “trans“ doesn’t not mean across, beyond, or through.
If you don’t like the definition of the prefix “trans” perhaps transgender people should choose a different prefix.
It truly means moving from one gender to another, as in transitioning, like Bruce Jenner did when he transitioned from a man to a woman, become a transgender person. He transformed himself.
You are getting confused with what's being said, you are just getting stuck on the historic notion of a word, and not what it means in context.
If you were to say for example, trans is the spectrum "across/between" the genders when not aligned with their sex, I've used those words for you, and I'd then agree.
The problem is, you are then saying things like "it truly means moving from one gender to another, as in transitioning".
This is where you're wrong in this context. We're talking about transgender, not transitioning. Trans does not mean transitioned. Find me a dictionary definition that shows that trans means transitioned. They all refer to transgender in this context.
It simply doesn't mean that in common language. Bruce Jenner was trans(gender) before transitioning.
Where you are getting confused, is that probably most of your examples you are aware of have transitioned. But that's because they were transgender.
So the point here as well, is there is NO moving from one gender to another (maybe if they consider themselves gender fluid as well, but that's a slightly different matter). They are the same gender they always were (well, one could certainly argue that's not static especially with hormones etc), it's just that it didn't match their biological birth sex. Some people medically transition, some people just wear different clothes, some people never transition.
