If it was Cheptegei running 4:10, 4:10, 4:00 then half a mile in 1:50 , would you say the same?

Sorry but it is way short. GPS watches always mess up when running circles smaller than 400. Try the same workout on a straight road and you will have to all out race to hit the same times.
thanks
17-low, maybe 16-high if this was a manageable effort. You have not given a lot of data.
Honestly, it is two miles at critical velocity, probably just a bit faster than your HM ability, then dropping to 8k pace.
If this is a monster workout and not just surprisingly comfortable, forget about that 16.
it was comfortableish for let's say the first 2.5 miles. then it became hard/really hard
I'd say 1700-17:15. If the 5:27 mile felt hard, that is probably close to your 5K pace.
16:59.99 on flat surface
That's a title sure to generate clicks. Many LRC boxes are checked.

He ran his last 5K in this workout in 17:06, so any prediction over 17 doesn't really make sense

No no no this is the guy that wanted D1 coaches to put their info in letsrun comments to recruit him because he is "super dedicated", benches 130, and doesn't want to run a lot of miles.
17:02
I think you guys are all high with the predictions. If the distance is accurate I think we’re looking at 16:15-16:30.
350 meter loops are way off on gps. 17:30.

ya- he's also in grade 10.
Also, this workout is not that good. 18:37
Lol, you guys gave yourselves away. I was commenting on the fact that he ran two tempo effort miles with one mile at 90-95%. That's not necessarily "monster." I'm glad OP found confidence in that workout but it should just be considered work, nothing more.
Now tie your lime green Vaporflys up nice and tight and shoo. (is that what you wanted from me?)
+1
Finally someone has actually done the math.

Where is the 17:06 coming from. His workout was 3.5 miles in total. The only way of knowing the total time would be to know what time it took him to literally pass 0.4 miles in his first split where he ran 5:48. Also if it was a monster workout then he must have been pushing hard. Without knowing the recovery times between splits then it is like asking how long a piece of Bekele's hair is. If it was monster then his 5k pace would be somewhere in between the 3 mile splits so I'm guessing 5:40 pace so would be around 17:30. Track should be faster then a field so maybe 17:20 if he can use some speed from his 2:30 0.5 miller.
The math is that every GPS watch overstated the distance when runni g circles smaller than 400. The math says that if he runs a straight 5k, he won't come close to 17:10.
