I am in an university that is socially dead, so I am wondering what is partying like in college? What are you missing if you don't party?

I was in college a long time ago when the drinking age had just turned 19.
Looking back, partying was way overrated at least in the sense of going to open frat parties and just getting drunk off cheap, free beer.
The best memories I have (aside from times with my GF) was in small groups playing games (cards, trivia, even some weird version of Monopoly that involved drinking) or watching movies/sports together. We would drink, but it was more social and people were not crap-faced.
I also hung out from time to time with a group of students who were religious. Some drank but not to excess and had great times with them playing sports (basketball, badminton, tons of other things).
If I had drank less I think I would have done better academically.
TV shows and movies make it look way cooler than it really is (and many times I wonder if any of the writers actually went to college much less the actors).
Advice from a guy who was once your age: Find people you like spending time with when everyone is sober. Those are going to be your friends for life.
PS: If you do not want to be getting drunk all the time, then DON'T! No matter the size of your school you will find people who are just not into it. I read recently that fewer young people drink and fewer drink to excess than in previous generations. A friend's kid graduated from college last spring and talked about how many friends rarely drank.
here we go again
In college you won’t have to worry about being stuffed in a locker like you experienced often in high school.
It depends on the school. I went to a power 5 school and night life from Thursday night to Saturday was awesome. Frat parties are great if you have a connection. Bars were always filled w/ college folk and easy to meet people. Hell we even drank in our dorm w/ our friend group a lot.
I also went to a smaller sized school <1000 in a regional sized city. It was more close knit and most people who went out knew each other or atleast of them. As a friends group we hung out a lot and drank and occasionally went to the local bars. 2 different scenes, both enjoyable ?
But, I think that your swirly incidents will likely increase as university's have more bathrooms and less hall monitors than high school.
I am drunk rn it’s great I like college

It's fun, celebrating the hard work we put in to get skollies to run in D1. Honestly though, no one really remembers the parties and lots of damage usually occurs. More bad than good honestly.
TBH, partying wasn’t that fun. I did a lot of it, and it almost became a weird obligation after a while. I wish I had spent time cultivating other interests instead of going to loud parties that I didn’t actually like.
But I guess that’s all part of learning to know yourself.

Traveling team bus parties were epic! Nothing more fun than celebrating a win on a late night four hour motor coach ride. Lights off, everyone on the men's and women's teams in a great mood, beer and wine flowing in the back, coaching staff asleep or zoned out up front. Relationships may have been consummated on those excursions, just sayin'.
Dear god, you dorks are the most socially inept goofs I’ve ever seen.
I went to SDSU. Frat parties and drinking were the best part of college. What the hell is the matter with you nerds??
Plenty of time to grow up and stop drinking after you graduate. SDSU was the best 6 years of my life.
Meeting random girls and banging them in their dorm. One time I was invited to a frat party by some blonde hottie in my class, and when I showed up at the party, she was getting stuffed by like 3 guys right in front of everyone.
Damn those times were awesome! Actually the best friends from college were the ones I partied the hardest with. Listen, don’t be an uptight a$$weed. Live a little. You can grow up when you turn 30.
Thanks for this great advice. I will invite all the milfs at the local track to a huge 0rgy tonight and stop being a dork ?
I don't get how anyone has time to party in college. There is much work in college, you barely have free time to do anything.

No, you just have terrible time management skills.

I assume you never studied engineering or went to a shitty and difficult school like UCLA

I have said that fact before, so I am not sure what point you are making. Most other students also have almost no free time, so I am not dumb or inefficient.

Ya sorry, I'm currently doing my masters degree in a physics field at one of the top Universities in my country, thank you very much. I also played sports full time during undergrad and got through with a respectable GPA. I also had a part-time job during all of undergrad (work two right now), had time for drinking on weekends (I don't drink anymore but that's a life choice unrelated to my schedule), and still managed at least 6 hours of sleep daily.
Nice of you to make assumptions putting people down just so you can feel better about yourself.
And how do you know that most other students have no free time? Did you go out and survey all the students who entered with you? Or is this some wild assumption you made about the world (like you always do)?
