Masback
Masback
Any confirmation that Craig Masback is gone? What about guys like Rob Loftis, Tim Phelan & Llewelyn Starks?
Is Paul Moser (Treniere’s husband) still in track & field sports marketing at Nike? I thought he was the point person for the distance runners at Nike, but I could be wrong.
Read the article, it has been updated.
"Two of Capriotti’s senior lieutenants in track and field sports marketing have also left Nike. Craig Masback left the company about a month ago. Masback joined Nike after serving as president of USA Track & Field, the sport’s national governing body. Masback also retired, Nike confirmed.
Tim Phelan, director of North American sports marketing, has also departed, Nike confirmed."

This sounds more and more like nike clearing house and gave these guys the option to retire rather than get canned

Just as well. Whatever the change is for our sport, Donahoe is changing the culture of NIKE Track and Field promotions.

If they go in house, would Craig Masback take over as head of the department, or is that a step down from what his current position is at Nike?
Mossback is gone as well.
Wait, Greg Mossback is gone as well?!

If only we can get him booted from doing NBC announcing life would be good

...and then replace him with...? Amy Cragg? Montano? C’mon, man.
Sorry. I haven’t bought the VIP package & have to wait to read it when it comes off the paywall, unless you want to copy/paste it and post it here.
Cap didn't leave on his own accord... NIKE laid off over 100 Vice Presidents
Cap definitely did not want to leave.
Exactly. He was making more than he was worth and let go. Great severance package, however, we get 2 weeks for every year served.

Pretty sure he was at nike in '95, do you know what year he started? I do not remember what year Kansas State canned him.

'92
I have two words for you: Chris Lukezic.
I’ve heard that Rich Kenah and a prominent Non Nike Coach that has been working with Post Collegiates for a couple decades are in line to change the current climate at Nike. Not sure if either will be willing to give up their current gigs?

This is correct. Huge changes will be taking place at Nike. The new economic realities will also ripple through all of track & field.
Caprioti’s consultant position is how Nike has decided to describe buying Cap’s silence. Stay tuned.
Sounds right, though I am sure he had to sign a non disclosure agreement,
He could almost be a toned down western version of Rodchenkov, if he chose that unlikely path.
