Rejoice US. I for one am glad they are getting rid of this stupidity.

TikTok is the best app by far. I get to watch people who are basically a lot like me who I would not see in real life. I will not miss the annoying girls my age whoring themselves out.
I had a few viral videos there. It was the only mainstream app where you wouldnt get banned for the "wrong" jokes (for the most part).
You get banned for frowning instead

Wow. You really just let the cat outta the bag here. You had a nice run, but you railroaded yourself here.
TikTok is a frivolity. Banning it will just piss of a lot of young people who generally don't vote, but make their parents happy.
But WeChat is used by just about every Asian in the US. Shutting it down is like banning boomers from Facebook.

Who do you think I was pretending to be?
I can list off a bunch of people on TikTok that I like. I'm not some out-of-touch adult who's pretending to be a youngster (like one notable user)
All Social Media save for the LRC message boards should be banned.
Ban college sports, too.

WeChat is used in China and other Chinese speaking countries. It is not used in Korea (Kakao), Japan/Thailand (Line), many other countries use WhatsApp/Telegram/FB Messenger - definitely not true that most Asians in the US use it.
Nothing in the announcement language says that current users are banned from continuing to use the app if it's already downloaded.
Good for them prioritizing national security over pandering to teenagers, as the Democrats would have done.
Best day ever
Where are all the free market capitals now?
How about those who can’t stand government tyranny of lockdowns and masks?
Or is this more like Covid where if I don’t know anyone personally who is dying it is fine.
It is hard to get a read on this forum sometimes. I can only guess most posters have no idea what TikTok is.
Seems pretty anti free market and massive government overreach to me. I don’t really care for the app, but the precedent of banning it seems very dangerous. Even for a country spinning faster and farther away from a free society as the US.

China is stealing users' data. It should be banned.
I’m glad too. Never liked that silly mint candy
You dummies need to work on reading comprehension.
It's being blocked for new downloads. Considering all you incels already have it on your device. You are fine -- for now.
Those who have it will still be able to use it until November 12, it's just being banned from the app stores. All that this will do is make more people download it now and will cause the 18 to 25 crowd to go vote the Orange Julius Caesar out of office.
Also, there will be so many challenges to the constitutionality of this order and I guarantee that come November 13, the app will be working just fine and have double the amount of users.

No they are harvesting it with permission just like every other app. Google not only knows everything you do online but also your locations. People should be free to hand their data over to whomever they choose. Government shouldn’t be telling people what apps they can’t use.
Okay. But are there laws limiting what these apps are doing with our data? If there aren't any laws, there should be laws. If TikTok or any other service are over stepping their boundaries, they need to be put in place. If TikTok refuses to tell us where our data is going it should be banned
You rarely hear about how extensive internet censorship is in the US. This may be the first high profile instance of the government telling you what you may and may not access. No one really cares about this blatant government overreach, and I find that pretty shocking. I guess so many of us have barely even heard of TikTok and won't miss it, therefore we don;t see the outrage.
But the government really cares about your privacy. They're really concerned on your behalf. So concerned, they had to limit your rights and freedom a little bit more.
