Agreed about ET’s form, it’s great for her body. SAFP is such a pocket rocket, though—thick where it counts, with power to spare.
The women don’t seem to duck each other, so hats off to them. While Dolt isn’t even on a track and Flake wanes, these women are tearing it up—after injuries, childbirth, etc, in a non-year. They are the real deal.
If JAM had a better third, they could crush a relay, even now.
Agree about Hobbs, IMO she has never shown the easy turnover needed for the final gear.
Re: Dolt—nobody else in history has ever been able to JOG a 9.8. THAT single effort from him, I think in the London heats or semi’s, defined him for me as the fastest ever. BJ might have been able to have done it, but never got the chance. Also maybe Gatlin in his Doha form, but only maybe, and probably not AS easy.
Anyone who did that, you have to believe that even at 90% he would be a medal threat. That was downright insane. INSANE! And something that CC will never touch.
CC will never stop using, he is at best an in-the-mix sprinter at a decent regional meet, or somewhat outside the qualifying bubble for nationals—so he has to be smart. These guys, and guys he knows, know how to do it right these days. CC got over-eager, and went overboard—but that is what it took to produce his world-leading overboard times. Dialed back a bit to a more reasonable level will leave him in the mix at a major.
Who knows if he will find that acceptable.
