If you can't run at least 1:06 for a half you will never run 2:20 for a full. Period.
You are absolutely right! But, like a Canova sad, if your training is correct and when you make HM before your Marathon goal race, the HM race results should not be M-8min/2, meaning that your training is wrong: "Your HM race results before Marathon should be slower than 1:06 when you prepared correctly to run M @02:20 after 1-2 months".
I agree with everybody that it will be extremely tough, especially for the first time racing. But this mission is a platform for something big.
Will be interesting, when I touch down a land (judgment days... :-) )
You would ask me, why I chosen such impossible mission, I tell you why:
1) I want to be first amateur who ran first race with such high PR (I can fail, of course). And I have a lot of time to do this without stopping work and normal life.
2) I want to prove myself that I can get respectful PR with similar training program like other runners, because I collected many years different experience of cyclists, runners, skies, etc , before to start cycling and to continue as a runner. This knowledge was very hard to find, systemize, adapt and so on, nobody could tell you how to train proper to be good progress, and so on.... still is discovering something new from training and reaction of my body.
3) When I was cyclist, I had also very fast development and good potential, but during specific of my seaman life it was very hard for me to continue training properly and to be competitive, but with running it is easier, when you are on board, than cycle. So that's why I chosen to move to the running.
Ok, too much bla-bla. Lets see how will be my paces after land touch down. If easy runs remain 04:00:04:20, LT 03:00-03:15, 5K 02:50-03:00 and I will not injure. I would say, my chances will be very high.
