Lura. Heavy snowfall. That's a bit of a WeirdChamp tbh.
But raised in Sandnes with very little snow.

Please calm down. You seem to increase your ego by using the achievements of your compatriots as evidence of something special about Norway. You behave like this in many threads about Norwegian athletes.
It is only likely that good athletes will emerge in a highly developed country that can take full advantage of all the possibilities of modern training, science or technology.
We are happy that Jakob is so good.

In a Norwegian podcast episode from "Stavrum & Eikeland", released today, the reporter asked the following question:
I:"How fast do you think he (Jakob) will run in the 1500m?"
G:"3.25"
I;"3.25?"
G:"Mhm"
I:"Then are we talking about the world record"
G:"Mhm... I don't believe...(He stopped talking) I think he will run 3.25.
I:"That's the plan?"
G:"It's not the plan, but that I am completely convinced (that he will do)
I:"How long will that take?"
G:"Within the next few years, I assume he will be under the world record."
I:"Huh"
G:"Call it insanity, but if you are not willing to see that borders exist to be moved, you have to do something else. He (Jakob) thinks so. And I think so.
I don't think he will.
The math doesn't add up.
In order to do that he would have to go from like the equivalent of a 1:42.25 in the 800 to 1:40.38.
I just don't see that happening.
It's always a good thought to play make believe though.

1) Was Jakob Ingebrigtsen conceived, born and raised at elevation greater than 5000 feet?
2) Does Jakob I. have a sub-2:15 1000m personal best?
3) Does Jakob I. have a sub-7:30 3000m P.B?
It will not occur.

I don´t know why you think Jakob must fulfil these conditions to run a 3:25 in the 1500m but anyhow:
1) Was El-Guerruoj conceived, born and raised in that elevation?
2) Jakob could probably run a 1000m in under 2:16 if he cared to make a serious attempt.
3) Jakob has not run a 3000m outdoor since he was 16. But he might break 7:30 tomorrow!

Very good argument indeed. He does not even have a sub 8:00 3000m PB.

el Guerrouj took advantage of numerous opportunities to train at foothills of Mount Atlas. el Guerrouj was obviously a sub-3000m man. Many or most believe elGuerrouj was sub-2:15 1000m capable.
You do know Jakob trains in the Alps right?
So what is the difference between those two?

Centro improved 6 seconds from age 19-25. Why would Jakob not be able to improve 1/2 that?

Centro started juicing at a later age than Jakob is the likely answer to your question.
he can 100% beat hicham el guerrouj
just give him the golden shoes from nike. look at the women's marathon and mens 5k.

Checks out, this is also the reason why Japan is so good at running and why Russia used to be so good. Recently climate change led to less snowfall in Russia, so their running declined.
I think it would be a good strategy for team USA to send all their top runners to Alaska for training.
Also kenyans should maybe consider having their training camps in Alaska too, since sadly there isn't too much snow in Kenya.
More interesting question for me would be:
Will he ever win an olympic gold or will he keep getting embarrassed at the biggest stage?
How many medals did Centro win at 19?
I agree. I'm still slightly worried that he doesn't have the speed needed in a championship race. Just look at how long it took before Hicham El G did it.
He is only 19, 20 this week. It can happen. plenty of people who improve crazy amounts after 20. Now I know he has already been doing a lot of training, but don't act like it's impossible with the cumulative mileage + speedwork and maturing.
I disagree. Think he's probably peaked already. No way he gets to 3:25.
Look at Andrew Weating. Ran 3:30 and never came close again. Everything has to align when you're going that fast. Like the guy a lot, but don't see a WR out of him.

Yes, such a loser. He'll join the embarrassed ranks of Lagat, Manangoi, Silas Kiplagat, Potato Tim, Komen, and Choge who have never won gold and most of whom who have never even medaled in the Olympics.
