A lot of these SJWs are only concerned with themselves and the attention they get rather than the actual stated cause of what they claim to be fighting for.

His poor father....

I totally 100% disagree with the guy.
I went to Yale and was a student athlete and my parents paid my way. Never once felt exploited. Yet he claims to be exploited? Grouping himself in as a distance runner compared to a famous football player is a disservice to any problems that need to be addressed in the NCAA.
I came from a single parent home with little money and had to provide my own way through college. I was able to get a D1 partial scholarship for running but had to work and borrow to pay the rest of my way.
The summer after my sophomore year I noticed a major department store had huge murals of myself and a teammate in the store's activewear department. My school got paid for this, but I and my teammate got nothing while paying to attend our school.
Later I transferred and was forced to sit out a year from track/xc, and had to pay for college an additional year if I wanted to complete all my NCAA eligibility. Meanwhile my previous college coach took a new job at a higher profile college at a higher salary and coached immediately (he was hired in part on my running success at my previous school).
Kid needs de-programming. I’m no expert, but looks like basic brainwashing to me!
Again, I think most people in the know are all for NIL but flat out payments are just a mess and Cal bro just did a terrible job explains what he really wanted from the NCAA or how to go about it.
Most people would say they are totally cool with you and your teammate getting money for the ad.
Cooperman- when Cal cuts MTRK, to pay for a failing basketball program's player image.... will you:
A) retweet how horrible Cal is for cutting Track
B) congratulate Cal for paying terrible basketball players
C) take a business class to understand there isn't really unlimited money in college sports
D) nothing, because Oprah is about to call and fame > actually making adult sense
Actually this would be considered the opposite of brainwashed. He speaks for himself and wants to makes the lives of student-athletes better. Clearly you're the brainwashed one going with the flow and letting people be exploited. We wouldn't be anywhere good in this world with people like you not stopping to think of how can we do better. You're intimidated by him having a mission in life because you're too brainwashed to have one yourself.

Was the post from Former teammate of Coops deleted?
I was Andrew's teammate at Cal. Although I support his assertions that the structure of the NCAA is flawed, I have a problem with the way this article depicts his character. He was planning on quitting the team months before the pandemic because he no longer wanted to run; it is highly unlikely this decision was made in the interest of social justice. Bobby (the coach) didn't respond because Andrew has been an incredibly unreliable member of the team. Despite his leadership in other student-athlete committees, he was never a leader on his immediate team. His portrayal as a fervent activist and dedicated athlete is shocking–it was a very different story at practice and the coaches quickly lost respect for him upon his arrival at Cal.

lol. distance runners are not making any money for schools. in fact, the school is spending money to give them a coach, travel, food, etc. and in the best cases, they are getting some of their tuition paid for.
almost every college would probably be better off financially if track and field did not exist.
football and basketball make money for schools. this store probably thought it was just spreading some love to an underappreciated sport--giving some unknown athletes a little bit of recognition.
Runners can't stand that they are overshadowed by bigger sports in high school and college. And then they get a little bit of pub and think they deserve $$$ for it. damned if you do, damned if you don't.
