You are never 100% safe in a race!
There is a risk you could be killed in a car accident on the way there.
There is a risk you could be assaulted by a psychotic mass-murderer during warm-up.
There is a risk you could trip over and receive fatal brain damage during the race.
There is a risk there could be another Boston-bombing type of event at the end of the race.
There is a risk you could choke on your meal after the race.
There is a risk you could fatally fall down the stairs on the way to the shower to clean yourself from the race.
It's ridiculous not having races on. I drove past a school today and saw dozens of parents in close proximity with no masks, majority of whom were overweight and obese so way more at risk of covid than a runner. It's completely hypocritical to allow overweight people in close proximity but not fit and healthy runners.
How about we let the people who are scared of getting sit in their homes cowering in fear while the rest of us get on with our lives?
100% agree
Covid-19 is very real and the deniers can all burn in hell, but I've felt safe at the races I ran this summer. They weren't huge, so there wasn't a lot of time standing around near other people. Being outdoors makes things much safer. Masking up before and after the race and not hanging around and socializing makes things safe enough that I was willing to race.

What if all of the Covid deaths were of Covid deniers? You would be celebrating since you want them to burn in hell like they committed a huge sin.
I feel safe once i escape this liberal urban sh!thole.
I'd lace up for some small ones now. Gotta show off that quarantine fitness.

I’m running one in December and I think I feel safe considering it is a smaller race and easier to keep a distance. Most races locally are owned by the same company or ran by a local running store so I think they will be ok.

I have run 3 races in person so far since the start. Have another later this month. All have been either trail or ultra races.
Those aren’t races.
I would race today. I would’ve raced in May.
As long as there’s no masks, of course. If I have to wear a mask I’m out.

Considering the races that are important to me are the large medium sized marathons. Grandma's or CIM size up to the Majors. That is a different standard than your local funrun where there are 300 locals.
I've felt comfortable since April and would have gladly run in one of these events if it was going on. There was a point in March when the absurd death rates were being reported where I thought, ok it's probably not near as bad as being reported on CNN but its probably still bad enough where I should have caution. But it became apparent pretty quickly no one healthy was dying of this and it was greatly exaggerated. I would gladly hop in a normal big city marathon tomorrow, actually not tomorrow since I'm getting over an injury. But as soon as I'm ready to go I hope there is a big one waiting. I'm really hoping Houston 2021 happens in its normal form. If it is the elite field only I'll still go, but that would be disappointing. There is an added atmosphere at races like that from having the tens of thousands competing and all the spectators watching. Taking those away would definitely lesson the race experience.
It was always safe to race.
I thought the safety guidelines were to stop covid from spreading and killing your grandma. I have never personally felt unsafe, nor should any young healthy runner.
Care to elaborate a little?
tomorrow
I have zero fear of covid.
