Hello all, I am a senior, running at 5,800ft + elevation and I'm looking for help on getting over the mental block. In many of my workouts I perform very well, but then race day is always very bad. This summer I was in the high 40's and low 50's almost every week, so I have base mileage down. At the end of the summer, I ran 17:02 in the 5k (cross country, not on a track), followed by a 16:51 a week later on a different course. Some example workouts I have done are 4byMile with 5 minute rest (splits of 5:07,5:11,5:19,5:19 once again these were cross country style, about half of it was grass) and then more recently I ran 6by1km (xc style) with splits of 3:00,3:02,3:05,3:09,3:02,3:11 with roughly 3 minutes standing rest. In races I can't seem to run with who I should be and run nowhere near where I should be. For example today I ran 18:00. How do i break my mental wall.
