Race coverage from the 1930s
60:27 for an easy win. Training run 8 days after the WR for him.
You had to be a real fan to watch that live feed though...perhaps the worst coverage I've ever seen.
Too late to respond, but I was going to say he needed to go 58 low to impress me.

LOL, I bet you they had better coverage at that time. You have to give it to the commentators for finding things to talk about for an hour when all we saw was a bike for 56mins , and then two dots maybe separated from the other 2 dots with a mile to go.
I noticed Mo still choosing to race in Next% instead of Alphafly...the Next% still seems like the shoe of choice for many elites.
+1 lol congrats on the prediction
The 1hr WR attempt was pointless and he wasnt going to go under 60 this weekend without an East African to chase. Too much of a sit and kicker to chase it himself. He is in for the shock of his life at Tokyo.

if he has pacers to 10k then I wouldn't be impressed unless he was under 59:20. No pacers at all and it's unlikely he tries very hard at any point.
If it's well-paced and the course is fast, with good weather, he really needs to be under 59:00 or at least breaking his aided Great North Run PB
+1
No pacers and he sits on marc scott to kick away the last 160m.

Great run from Marc Scott but little more than easy win for Mo and didn't really tell anyone anything they didn't already know.
I was gonna say a sub 59:30 HM would impress me.
A few pros have said they prefer the VFs. The Alphas don't seem to the universal magic shoe that the 4% were. Maybe too much was invested specifically in building the show around Kipchoge and his running style
Neither shoe really matters for a half, Mo just ran a 59:1x half marathon in spikes

But there's no point to him doing that is there? If he sits on Scott or Scullion and pulls away for a 60:xx then it's no better than a hard workout for him. He has to be aiming for something other than a win in a national-level road race.
FWIW, I think he goes for 59 low and gets an official time that beats his GNR time
No point in him running in a manner that gives him the best chance to win? Yeah I’m going to disagree.
As expected.
What is Mo supposedly "back" to? Is he going to win more medals at 5000 and 10000, because that's the only thing he was good at. Road racing is a thing he was never at in the first place, same goes for rupp.
I flick a booger at the wall for Mo's big come"back."

you have a pretty high standard. one of those guys has a marathon medal. and the other guy has a world marathon major victory.

Nice. Why don't you wear spikes for your next Half then?

Ignoring the faster recovery the VFs allow, I would probably run just as fast in Zoom Streaks. They are really built for the marathon. The Alphaflys have another 1oz of foam cushioning packed in so they make even less sense for a shorter race.
rupp won chicago too, as well as a second in Boston and a darn good PR.
back to his old ways of using synthetic "medicine"? Btw the course is not legal so running a 60 on a net drop course is ho hum and I'm sure Mo isn't thrilled

The streaks are not anywhere near as fast as VF. I've worn both for a races between 5k and half marathon. The streak is still a good shoe but it is no VF. Jakob used the Alphafly in that road 5k he ran and he was very fast for the last K. He held back a lot through most of the race.
