8x350m
5 min rest
52 second goal
None of us could hit the times. It was all I could do to hit 55-56 by the end. Afterwards, laid in my own vomit while the coach yelled about how soft we all were...memories.
10x800 in 2:25 with 60 seconds rest then 1x1600 in 5:04.
All by myself in the evening with my coach timing.
1 x 300 in 40
4x1k in 2:50 the hard way (run the first 800 in 2:20, then 30 on the last 200. 4 minute rest. I hit 2:55-52 on the first 3, the last one was 2:50
1 x 250 in 33
By the second 1k I really didn't know if I was going to be able to continue.

That sounds like a hard workout, do you run the 800m or 1500m

Every workout is hard, but this was on the brink of insanity and I was crawling around on the turf between every rep of those 1ks. It was one of those where you just black out and stop caring about the pain. Our coach even said if the last 250 wasn't to his liking there would be another 200 waiting for us. I guess it was satisfactory.
Also I do both, but the 800 is definitely my main event.
College: 16x400m with 1 minute recovery in-between.
68, 67, 67, 68, 67, 68, 67, 67, 67, 67, 67, 67, 66, 64, 63, 61
The 1-minute recovery was a jog from the finish line diagonally across the football field to the opposite 200m starting line.
Adulthood: 22 miles @ 6:30 pace plus just about every workout in Jack Daniels' elite marathon plan. Difficult for me!
3 x 4 x 330 yards and 2 x 880 yards
4x330 yards in 46’s 110 yards recovery between 330 yards in 22.5 ‘s.
440 yard jog untimed after the 4 330’s.
880 yards in 2:05 to 2:08.
440 yard jog untimed.
Repeat
Coach called it the 60 on 60 :)
workout ranges from 4-8x400 in 60 sec with 60 sec jog
it really makes us hit the walls by the end
A peaking workout I did twice in high school- 15 x 200, all under 30 seconds, with the only recovery being a jog across the infield back to the 200-meter start line.
I was a strength-based runner and my fastest 400 was only 57 high, so this was nearly full speed for me. This workout was so intense and painful that to do it successfully I had to approach it mentally almost like a race.
I once did a lactic overload 800 workout that just about killed me
5x(400-200-200) where you run the 400 hard enough to get the muscle lock up (about 57-58 for a guy that ran 54 at the time) and then only get 45 seconds rest going into the 200s that are to be ran all out. It was supposed to feel as hard as a full out 800m each set and it sure as hell did. Only got a few minutes to get ready for the next set.
My hs coaches may have been crazy
5x3x200 (200 jog rest, 3 min between sets) (
27.9,29.6,28.7,29.1,29.6
28.5,29.8,29.3,30.2,29.9
29.3,29.2,29.0,28.45,25.65,28.22)
This one above is always hard. A 5/6x3x200 get really tough with the short rest.
Week 11 Workout 2 400 ,8 x 500 ,400 workout, 2:30 rest/3:15 rest
Rep # Time:
1 61
2 77
3 77
4 76
5 77
6 74
7 75
8 76
9 76
10 59
Average: 60.66666667 per 400
The 500's here are get really tough.
I think it was something like 3X4X300m but it was 5 or 6 years ago when I was at my best. I am a mess now and have had bad health for 6 weeks now, meaning I am just jogging a few days a week since then and have a big belly now. What would have been a jog pace actually feels like tempo pace now. Hope I can get back to normal soon and return to my best at some point over the next few years. It is depressing looking back and thinking how much better shape I was 5 years ago
Crossfit
While in junior high school: 6 x 440 yards, 6 x 220 yards and 10 x 100 yards. On the 440s and 220s, coach kept lying to us. He kept saying: Only one more. I always help back in practice after that.
4k - 6 min rest, then 3k @ 5k pace ... idk what my coach was thinking. I wasn't too far off pace too! I could barely jog home though.
Doesn't sound like anything: 60min of ~5min steady alternating with ~3min strong. "Steady" was about 20k race pace, "strong" was faster. No slower running in the hour.
Should have been very do-able (my 20k races took well over 70min), but I was just hanging on at the end. Went to the locker room and sat on a bench for an hour, too beaten to stand up and open my locker.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
