More BS propaganda from the left. If the poor black football and basketball players feel oppressed then they should not take part in college athletics. No one has a gun to their head to live the life of a king, be treated better than anyone on campus and receive a free education. Sounds really tough.
How about the fact that the money these players are supposedly generating is mostly coming from white fans. Let's stop with the race insanity and searching for oppression where there is none. It demeans the people that are actually oppressed in this world.
I think you're missing some factors here. In terms of class attendance, basketball players miss a lot because of travel for big tournaments. Football players have fewer games, but they spend a huge amount of time each day working out, watching tape, and lifting. These sports are, obviously, predominantly black. Additionally, unless you've been living under a rock, the amount of CTE from football careers is become more widely known. So those collegiate football players are suffering brain injuries in addition to causing permanent, lifelong damage to their bodies. Basketball doesn't generate brain injuries, but it is also hard on the body, especially the knees and back.
These students don't truly get to take the courses they're registered for so they don't get the "free education" they are promised by the university. While the usefulness of a college degree isn't what it once was, it does massively help with upward economic mobility and ability to build wealth. They aren't paid and the sports take up so much of their day that they cannot hold a part time job or internship to build their resumes while in college. They suffer life long injuries that will impede them in various ways for life.
So they don't get a degree, end up physically (and mentally for football players) worse, and are now older with no work experience. Most take the scholarship to try and get out of the lower class and don't get the opportunity, skills, or knowledge to actually do so
