This pisses me off!! I watched this kid grow up. Big athletic lineman...played basketball when he was younger. Son of a former 1st round pick for the Steelers. When I hear idiots say it’s safe for young kids I want to punch somebody in the face. It’s not mentioned in the article but he got it from his roommate. These people so eager to get the kids in school and on the field that their well being is not a consideration. One dead black kid is is a small price to pay. Now you have a woman that I know who has to bury her only child. Hoax my a$$!!!!

This is a local story now but I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes national news. It should!!

Overweight...fat actually. Ethnicity likely is diabetic. Why so shocked?
It’s sad, sure, but not surprising given this guy was not healthy to begin with. -
Diabetic is NOT an ethnicity you IDIOT.

There are tens of thousands of big college and NFL lineman like that who live long lives. Covid killed him not his weight. If a 30 something year old person who has been living just fine with asthma all their life catches Covid and dies do you want to say he or she died of asthma? Hell no....they died of Covid!!! Don’t give me that pre existing condition crap. These people dying would have lived decades longer if it wasn’t for Covid. Stop dismissing it like it’s not a real problem. People like you are the reason this thing won’t go away. -

People die from being punched in the face. You are no better than the COVID deniers if you want to potentially kill someone over words you heard some rando saying. -

I wasn't going to point it out because I thought it was obvious, but no, he was not healthy. He was morbidly obese, i.e. a known risk factor, which most college students (especially athletes) do not share. -
So do you run, like, marathons? wrote:

Yes. This. And this is one football player, do you realize that a few football players have already died of heat. Are we going to outlaw summer vacations next? -

So we should take COVID seriously then?
You're saying you're not surprised it's killed someone! -
In a country of 330 million, there have been about 2 collegiate athletes that have died from complications of COVID in the past 9 months (the linemen you refer to and a baseball player at Mesa State). That is not an epidemic. The seasonal flu often times is more lethal to college aged kids than covid. If we aren't shutting down campuses for the flu, then we shouldn't shut them down for COVID. If someone has pre-existing risk factors, they are free to work online from home. A lot of this is actually tied to a person's immune response to the virus and not damage from the virus itself (meaning a vaccine may have similar impacts). The virus is not disappearing, so an individual's immune system will have to face it eventually.

The guy was 6'3 400lbs. Some guys are built to hold that extra mass better than others. he was not built to hold that much weight. This is not a healthy big in any way shape or form. He was sloppy big.

Read between the lines moran...I didn’t mention his race because everybody today gets their panties in a bundle.
Diabetes and heart disease are most common among those of his race. Fact.
Plus he was obese. Fact. -

Tragic.
But there are lots of non-covid deaths among young athletes, too. Just the other day in Philly...

Want to punch someone in the face over this, too? -

You are a racist prick and really stupid. Diabetes is ubiquitous but most blacks are NOT diabetic. -
people die. should we put headlines in the paper every time a kid dies of the flu, pneumonia, etc.? If I had an obese kid, I might have a talk with him about a) getting healthy and b) trying to stay a little safer than others might have to.
-
Diabetes is much more common in his race than in whites. Look it up.
Oh...and I’m faster than you too schegma. 29:1x for 10,000m -

Pointing out how certain races have more health risk than others is not racist. It’s people like you who have actually minimized real racism. Now, you don’t know cause anyone cries racism when they are offended. That’s not racism. If I had a job and I could hire an overly qualified applicant or a poorly qualified one, and I said I’m not going to hire the better one because of their skin color, that’s racism. Pointing out how blacks have things like sickle cell anemia is not racism. You might need to find your safe place and color for a little bit... it will be okay -
You are another idiot. Of course diabetes is more prevalent in blacks than whites. That is not what makes both of you racists. You both assume he is diabetic because he is black. You both are ignorant RACISTS.
-
You are a total prick.
I adopted a young black girl from an orphanage. She’s a wonderful college graduate now from Stanford.
If you think I am a racist, you’re the only one on earth that thinks this way. Perhaps you should go apply to adopt an African american orphan asap? -

Yeah, NFL players are known for their long lifespan.
