Hey Allen...I had my usual organic beer. It suits my lightweight nature well. :-) My 5k is on Saturday, and the half marathon is on Oct. 25th. No special prep this week for the 5k. I have been doing one speed session per week (usually a Friday tempo) and feel that has been giving me a good taste of faster paces. I will take Fri. off (the day before the race), as I feel that definitely gives me some sharpness on race day. Will likely them do my usual long-ish progressions M through Thur., rest on Fri., and then count Saturday’s race as my speed session for the week.
The way that run felt today, esp. after running 15.5 in the hills yesterday, I must say that I have positive thoughts about the 5k. I did not have to hammer for the 5:58/2:58 last 1.5 this morning. Other than my knees being sore (have been so for weeks now), I seem to be starting to get in gear. Three out of five runs in the hills this week, the most in many months...
